Felcris Centrale THE Felcris name is what defines the Yap family. And on the day it marked the 43rd anniversary of the Felcris name last September 19, the ground breaking ceremony for Felcris Centrale along Quimpo Boulevard in barangay Bucana was held. Set to open in the third quarter of 2013, Felcris Centrale is sure to contribute to the economic growth of the city. "Felcris is a homegrown brand and we are happy and excited to see this development. We congratulate the owners for this project," Davao City mayor Inday Sara Duterte said in her speech during the short program. Established by two brothers Felipe "Fel" and Cresencio "Cris" Yap on Sept 19, 1969, Felcris began as a small retail store selling textiles in Anda Street, Davao City. "The company prospered and the family saw the need to expand. In November 1976, Felcris Supermarket, Inc. was incorporated and Felcris Supermarket at Ramon Magsaysay Avenue became the first established supermarket in Davao City," Cassandra Yap, Felcris Hotels and Resorts Corporation executive vice president said in her speech during the ceremony. Seeing the growth of warehouse club businesses around the world, the Yap family formed the Davao Central Warehouse Club, Inc. on July 14, 1991. Davao Central Warehouse Club in Agdao became the first warehouse club to service the wholesale consumers at the lowest price. In 2012, Felcris Hotels and Resorts Corporation was incorporated to engage in real-estate development with Felcris Centrale its flagship major development project aimed at creating a business community in one of the prime areas of Davao City. The property, comprising a 5.9-hectare lot in barangay Bucana, will include a shopping mall, office buildings, residential towers and hotels. "The first phase of our project will be the completion of the mall and BPO building at the cost of at least P1 billion. According to Colliers International, Davao City is the next wave city in the Philippines most suitable for call centers and BPO businesses," Yap said during her speech. Covering more than 54,000 square meters of floor area, Felcris Centrale will feature a 12-storey commercial complex with a 10-floor office space and a two-level retail and entertainment center complete with supermarket, boutiques, restaurants, and specialty shops. It will also feature a new mall which offers an exciting and eccentric mix of shops and restaurants that is complemented by a fully-landscaped activity and entertainment area. "The interior walkways will showcase Davao as the Fruit and Flower Basket of the Philippines consisting of flower stalls, fruit stalls, local delicacies and handicrafts. The Yap family commits to investing at least P5 billion for the whole project," she said. The family is certainly not new to real estate and retail business. It also pioneered the convenience store industry in Davao when it founded the Davao Central Convenience Store, Inc. back in 1997. Davao Central Convenience Store opened five branches in its first year of incorporation. It now has expanded all over Mindanao from Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur in the north all the way to Malita, Davao del Sur in the south. "In this new endeavour, we intend to take the next step in our family's vision. This has been a lifelong dream of the Yap family," Yap said. Yap says the "Felcris name is truly native Dabawenyo and that they have considered the city as their home. "Although we were all educated in Canada, we have always known that Davao is where we belong," she said. Felcris Centrale is easily accessible from neighboring business establishments, government offices, and residential communities. With its proximity to the Davao International Airport, Davao City Hall, and the old Davao Central Business District, this development provides its occupants easier access to the major transportation and business areas. Truly, Felcris Centrale will be the newest focal point where business and entertainment converge, another must-see destination from a homegrown brand. |
I got this info while visiting AEON’s showroom in J.P Laurel Avenue. I was there to inquire so I can fetch more details about the project. The friendly agent treated me like someone who would buy a unit that she gave me a tour on their single studio unit model. The unit is pretty impressive and looks cool. But, I was there only to inquire, really… like I have that kind money . The showroom will be demolished soon by the end of March and the construction will start officially this April. I asked further how sales are doing and they said about more than 200 units are already sold. AEON J.P.
